Tutu....'Bahnhof'...

We visited a shelter home in Bukit Mertajam, Penang Bahnhof Youth Center.

Though there were some delay in planning, we were glad that they were welcoming us as much as we welcomed them.

We did not plan many activities for the children because all we wanted, was to have interactive moment with them. Of course, the discussion about how to deliver our help towards the less fortunate population with Alex and Thoo (center's owner) was inspiring, too.

For those who are in the helping profession or social welfare, I guess we all understand that running a shelter home or half-way house which serves as part of psychosocial support, is not easy. From getting a license for the center to the negotiation with neighbour for tolerance with children's voice level. However, these did not stop Alex to help these kids.

"If I do not help them, who is going to help them?". This remind me of Jesus' parable about the lost sheep. "What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost." (NIV, Matthew 18:12-14).

Though they had or are having some untold experience which you and I may not feel or know, I can feel how creative, happy, serious about their attitude towards their life.

I believed God is blessing Penang Bahnhof Center for those who were grown up in this center is turning into Him and become some great people that touch others' life. One of the former resident turned up to be a sales manager in a local rice merchandise while the other is undergoing formal counseling training to be a licensed counselor.

Isn't that great? Praise the Lord. =)

Want to know what we did with them?

Well, we had a simple brunch with those kids where they were jumping around the compound while foods were ready and electronics seemed to be their focus...

(Psst, none of our cell phones "survived" after the visit, including Alex's Samsung Galaxy Tab because all of the power were drained by games installed in our gadgets...>~< )

Photo frame making session...

30 minutes football game and blanket game....

And I guess you know how happy we were in the end of the day...

It is really fun to mix around with them and I will continue to pray for everyone in the center.

P/S: Thank you everyone for making this visit successful ^^
